There are several Magic Calls that may be made, due to spells or magical abilities. All of the calls (except FEAR and FATAL) can be stopped by the Resist Magic skill. All characters should be familiar with these effects, so that they know how to react to them:
MUTE: You may not talk or make any vocal noises for a 100 Count.
BLIND: You must immediately close your eyes, and you must not open them again for a 100 Count.
CRIPPLE: The touched extremity immediately becomes Crippled, with the normal effects (see section 2-3 Damage). This ignores armour, etc, but unless the effect was transferred by a weapon you do not take any damaged (beyond the Cripple effect).
ENTANGLE: You must immediately place both feet on the ground, and they become stuck for a 100 Count.
LIFE DRAIN: Ignores armour and does one Body Hit of damage.
COMMAND: You must immediately freeze and listen to the command. You must then do what you are told to after the COMMAND call is made. Sometimes, this will also include OOC instructions (such as a duration, etc). For example: “COMMAND: Kneel for a 100 Count” or “COMMAND: Sleep for 1 hour”.
PETRIFY: You and everything you’re carrying (within reason) are solidified for a 100 Count. You are still aware of your surroundings, but are completely unable to move, speak, or act. While petrified, you are immune to damage and all other counts are suspended (they continue when the PETRIFY ends).
PERMANENT (CALL): This is added to another call in order to remove it’s time limit. All other effects are the same as the normal call (including how they end). For example, PERMANENT PETRIFY could still be ended by outside effort, but it could last indefinitely (thus stopping all counts, including the effects of ageing).
FEAR: This call CAN’T be stopped by Resist Magic. When someone says it, you must run away from them, and can’t return within 5 paces for at least a 10 Count.
FATAL: This call CAN’T be stopped by Resist Magic. You are immediately reduced to zero Body Hits (ignoring armour). You fall unconscious and are dying (see section 2-5 Death). If you are already on your 100 Count, then you stop counting and are dead.
